F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, originally published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1925 and widely considered the Great American Novel, officially passed 95 years of age in 2021 and thus entered the public domain.

More than a dozen new editions and derivative works have been published since the copyright expired, including four alone by Penguin Random House. Now in 2022 and admittedly a bit late to the game, W.S. Cole Press is proud to introduce its own version, freegreatgatsby.com.

How is our version any different? Well, our cover may not be nearly as attractive as some others, but the words are pretty much exactly the same, so the main difference is that our version is free. And as Progressive Web Book, it offers a few features that printed books can‘t, including full text search.

We first read The Great Gatsby in high school, and then again in college, and continue to do so every few years as adults. Fitzgerald’s stiff cocktail of glamour, romance, and tragedy has inspired us for years, and it’s our pleasure to now share it with you. Drink up and enjoy, old sport.
